A large part of Kendoem's works are made of metal materials, and our pursuit of metal craftsmanship is also reflected in each work. What are the steps to complete a metal lamp? What details are we proud of? Today, I will explore the production process of Kendoem metal lamps with you.

1. Suitability and material: material selection, molding 

Low-carbon steel, aluminum alloy, copper alloy and other materials are commonly used raw materials for Kendoem. When making lamps, engineers will first select the most suitable raw materials according to the design drawings, and then shape the metal raw materials according to the corresponding methods of different materials. Into the appearance that the designer wants to present. And the knowledge involved, in addition to the characteristics of different metals, there are also molding methods, material thickness, etc., which test the engineer's mastery of metal materials.

2. Nothing can be finished without cutting: fine welding and polishing

"Pay attention to every detail of the work" is Kendoem's consistent requirement for all designs, and the common frame and tube structures in Kendoem's works can have a natural connection at every turning point. The key is mature precision welding, Surface polishing technology: the master puts the metal parts against the high-speed rotating sand/cloth wheel, applies pressure and repeatedly polishes them back and forth. With the splashing of sparks, the surface of the lamp body becomes more delicate and smooth, which also ensures the subsequent surface treatment and coloring The procedure went well.

▲ Kendoem uses special raw materials for fine welding, which can clean the welding slag at the same time. Because the flame in the process is bright green, it is nicknamed "wild fire fine welding".

▲ Most lamps have irregular shapes. The master can only turn his hands over and apply pressure repeatedly. On average, he needs to go through 5 polishing procedures before he can polish every angle of the object in his hand until it is smooth, and then enter the next surface coloring process .

Surface treatment, in addition to preventing metal rust from affecting use and prolonging the time that lamps accompany us, is also the final touch before the completion of a design work. Regardless of varnish or electroplating, through the surface coating, color matching and texture contrast are created, which realizes the designers' imagination of the work.
